K-1 BASKETBALL CLINIC INSTRUCTOR NEEDED:

We are looking for motivated and energetic basketball instructors to lead the Future Dunkers Basketball Clinic.  The Clinic is held at the Franklin Athletic Club on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. Instructors can pick the day or time to run the clinic.  Pay is based on experience.  Starting pay for the clinic:

     Lead Instructor:  High school 10th grade or above:  $45-$75 for the 45-minute session
     Assistant Instructor:  Grades 8-12:  $30-$50 per 45 minutes

LEADERSHIP TRAINING:

The Youth Leadership Project is an opportunity for young men and women to learn leadership skills using basketball as the platform.  Those who are accepted into the program will be first trained in the classroom.  We will provide detailed instruction on the following skills:

  1. Coaching basketball - Game strategy and team development

  2. Skill Instruction - How to teach the fundamentals to younger players

  3. Referee Training - Rule comprehension and communication

  4. First aid protocols - What should you do in a medical emergency?

  5. Public Speaking - How to get your message across to a team or large audience

  6. Child Safety - How to advocate for the children we coach.

As well, trainees will be exposed to working in a professional environment with emphasis on co-worker communication and meeting supervisor expectations. 

 

After the classroom training, those in the program will train on site at a Motor City Evolution program.  Trainees can choose to coach a team, instruct at a clinic or referee in an area basketball league.  Trainees are also welcome to train over the summer at Basketball Camps throughout the area.  Continuous evaluations will be given as we groom our trainees for a paid position.

Youth Leadership Requirements:

  1. Entering the 8th, 9th or 10th grade in fall of 2024

  2. Must have played on their middle school or high school basketball team

  3. Must have reliable transportation

  4. Excellent communication skills

  5. Ability to work with young athletes in grades 2-6

The Youth Leadership Project fee is $350 and no more than six applicants per semester will be accepted into the program.  All candidates must attend the informative meeting.
